If one thing holds true, 2020 has been a year of tremendous transition and upheaval – including those who work in the medical and healthcare industry. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a catalyst for swift and innovative decision-making; forcing everyone, especially healthcare providers, to modify almost all standard operating processes to ensure the health and safety of those they serve. Additionally, to continue to provide patient care, clinicians that were not already tech savvy, were pressed to adopt innovative solutions to continue to provide care remotely; necessitating partnerships with third party companies for support.

While clinicians are expected to be the authorities in providing patient care, they may not always know how to effectively leverage external resources to optimize their practice’s everyday operational tasks. Outsourcing may not be appropriate for every practice, however, outsourcing clerical tasks such as medical billing or IT services and even workers’ compensation claims, has been shown to increase productivity, save time and money, and improve practice/patient relationships.

Noted in a recent REVELE article, practices that were already involved in outsourcing prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly revenue cycle management, have had a less difficult time faring operationally and financially. With this said, clinicians have seen quantifiable benefits as a result of outsourcing administrative tasks relating to workers’ compensation claims including:

  • Faster recoveries.
  • Faster revenue.
  • Reductions in administrative time and costs.
  • Reductions in care and non-compliance delays, quicker turnaround times.
  • Reductions in workloads through coordinated processes.

We know you and the physicians at your practice want the best for all of your patients. When it comes to the injured workers you treat, you want to get them the care they need, when they need it.
